Hi Pam,

I just wanted to add that there are 3 infocard RP's on the net as of today. The third addition is Ashish Jain's infocard RP (JAVA). Available @ https://infocard.pingidentity.com:8443/infocard-sp/login.jsp

Rohan

Pam says: Awww, you beat me to it, I was going to update my list today! :)

I don't think this is a real problem.

Most casinos wouldn't issue their own cards. They would just require login using a self-issued card. One self-issued card can carry credentials for all the websites you visit - that's the cool thing about them. You only need more than one if you have different "personas" (e.g. Bill the cartoonist vs. Bill the Microsoft employee) or when you need to access different accounts at the same site.

The only sites that should be issuing cards are those that need to project their identity elsewhere, e.g. loyalty programs, banks, employers, governments. For simple "this is me" authentication, self-issued cards will suffice, and are a big improvement over passwords.

One more note on the subject. Even if you do have a million cards (which is probably more than we'll allow in v1) the UI will automatically pick the last card you used to sign in at a given site. The nice thing about computers is we can use them to search and filter, so the "I can't find the right card" problem is much easier to solve than in real life.

Pamela,

First off I wanted to thank you for your very energetic presentation at DEC (I was one of those surrounding Stuart), as it really brought alot of interest to the topic at hand.

The Beta 2 version of IE7 that works is 5299 while the newer 5335 does not work with InfoCards. I found this out after I tried to use Kim's site unfortunately. :(

I suppose that is why beta's exist!

Thanks again,

Jef

Pam says: Thanks for the info Jef, hopefully it will save a few other people some pain :-) I'm glad you liked the presentation, I had a blast doing it
